At the last Boston IEEE P1901 WG meeting, the HomePlug/Panasonic Merged Proposals for Access and In-Home were selected for further consideration and for the confirmation vote. ACN’s Bandpass Wavelet OFDM technology is included in these proposals.

Three new members have joined the Board of Directors: Prof. Dr. Michael Mirow is the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Pierre-Olivier Chave has been elected as Vice-Chairman, and Luc Tissot is the new Secretary of the Board.

The founders of CEPCA (Consumer Electronics Powerline Communication Alliance) are Panasonic, Sony and Mitsubishi Electric. CEPCA promotes the use of powerline communication in new consumer electronics products and will ensure that these products can coexist.

The goal of the EU-sponsored project POWERNET is to implement and validate the Cognitive Broadband over Power Lines (CBPL) access technology under real world conditions. The results of the project will accelerate the deployment of power line communications.

The contribution of ACN entitled “ Cognitive Broadband over Power Line (CBPL): A Techno-Economic Analysis” has been well received at the 2nd Powerline Communication (PLC) World Asia 2005 conference in Kuala Lumpur. Several utilities have showed interest to run field trials with the new CBPL technology.

ACN announced a technological breakthrough: the company’s new Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) technology allows data communication with a data rate of up to 300 Mbps over the in-house electrical wiring. High speed data transfer between a PC and several high definition TVs (HDTV) becomes therefore possible.
